Make networking your superpower!

Networking is as important as ever to put yourself out there front and centre.

According to the Google dictionary, networking is the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts.

These days, interacting with others can be done in several different ways – whether through social media or through attending events.

A myriad of professional platforms exists, such as LinkedIn – a platform that most of us are familiar with. Whether we like it or not! Another app worth a mention would be Meetup, which is all about linking people with joined interests. Others include Xing, Bark, Opportunity, Jobcase, Lunchmeet, Slack, Sumry and various community forums.

Networking is easy through events hosted by your local Chamber of Commerce or organisations you belong to through your professional membership. For example AHPRA (Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or CPA (Certified Practising Accountants Australia). These are ideal opportunities to meet like-minded professionals and grow your network.

Attend charity fund-raising events and volunteer your time. You could even serve on boards or committees, or get involved with extracurricular activities.

Make your network work for you!
