Providing a positive work environment and culture is a key component of an effective employee retention strategy. Platforms to let staff know they are valued such as a monthly recognition award, thank you email, or meeting moment are some of the ways you can support creating an engaged and motivated workforce.
Embedding language of appreciation into your workplace is another, where good collaboration moments or positive reviews from customers – whether they are given directly or through Google reviews – are outlined first at team meetings.
Research by global analytics and advisory firm, Gallup, found the most memorable recognition for staff comes most often from an employee’s manager (28%), followed by a high-level leader or CEO (24%), and then the customer (10%).
We’ve had some worker recognition successes this week, where our director, managers, and customers all shared great feedback, boosting employee morale. Here’s how the week 8-14 March 2025 unfolded:
- Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred arrived
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred caused havoc and heavy rain, wind produced land slips and damaged Waterfall Way, between Thora and Dorrigo. - Watchout Training and Traffic Control requested
Our Watchout Training and Traffic Control (WTTC) traffic controllers requested to attend Waterfall Way and supported the closure of the road. - WTTC staff dispatched
Our WTTC staff went above and beyond to meet our client’s need for traffic controllers 24/7. An additional traffic crew was dispatched and traffic controllers from the first crew agreed to unexpectedly be stationed in Dorrigo for the whole week. - Dorrigo community shows appreciation
The Dorrigo community and our client all say thank you to our traffic controllers. - WTTC and MBC leadership shows appreciation
MBC group director amplifies this positive feedback and appreciation in an email out to all staff. WTTC managers back the message up in a phone call to our staff. - Staff feel valued and recognised
Our traffic controllers, scheduler and the whole team gained a huge boost, increasing workplace morale and helping staff to feel satisfied in their job role.
