Top skills in demand Q1 2025

We’ve crunched the numbers for the top skills in demand by employers in Quarter 1 this year and we wanted to share the results with you.

MBC Head of Recruitment, Deborah Burley, said Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, support workers, electricians and truck drivers remain the skill sets that are in strongest demand by employers, relative to supply.

“We’ve seen a very active jobs market so far this year, with MBC Recruitment receiving 80 requests to place workers so far this year and Macquarie Labour Hire, 180 requests,” she said.

“Having MBC Recruitment’s head office in Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast where the demographic is made up of a higher proportion of people aged 65 or over, it’s no surprise RNs and other healthcare professionals are in high demand.

“Similarly electricians, diesel mechanics and truck drivers with either a MR/HR or HC Truck Licence are highly sought after state-wide.

“I would encourage anyone with these skill sets or anyone who is qualified and looking for work anywhere in NSW or South-east Queensland to register their interest on our website at www.mbcrecruitment.com.au and click on register for work.

“Additionally, if there are people with these skill sets already in jobs, who are desiring a change or who have the capacity to work on a more casual basis through short-term contracts, reach out to our recruitment agency on 1300 854 622.”

Other professional skill sets in demand so far in 2025 are customer service, senior administration, finance, accounting, taxation, traffic controllers and cleaners. For more information on job opportunities, visit our current opportunities webpage here.
