Innovate to Elevate – October 2023 Update

The Innovate to Elevate program is still in the early days of forming, but here are a few initiatives that have come from the program:

Growth of the Nursing Division

Over the past few months, there has been a concentrated effort to grow our nursing business in the New England region. MBC Nursing had a modest but solid presence in Tamworth for approximately 12 months prior to Covid 19, providing RNs and AINs to aged care facilities. We believe there is an opportunity for growth in the region, so we selected it for special attention in Q3 of 2023. This activity has also given us a chance to prove that our business development model and recruiting process can work hand-in-glove in a controlled environment.

In summary, we have re-established a working relationship with a lapsed client (Uniting Care – Alblas Lodge & McKay House in Tamworth) and signed Placement Conditions with two new clients, Go Co Community Care in Tamworth and Uralla Shire Council who operate McMaugh Gardens Aged Care Facility and Tablelands Community Services. We have two AINs working in Tamworth with a further two Armidale based AINs are set to start work in the next two weeks. We are also in the process of onboarding an RN who will be based in Armidale. Steve has visited the region twice (late July and early October) to meet with prospective clients and is returning for a third visit on November 1 & 2 where he will also attend a Ready-Set-Connect NDIS networking event. We believe that we should have 8-10 staff working regular shifts before the end of the year.

Another emerging market for MBC Nursing is the Sydney metropolitan region and we have also made inroads in that area, signing a heads of agreement document with CCNB, a major NDIS and MyAgedCare service provider across the northern beaches, northern suburbs and hills districts. We are still awaiting details of the services that MBC will be asked to provide and the size of the opportunity however, they are sizable NFPs with a large footprint and an excellent track record so the work could be considerable, especially over time.

Work Experience

We have provided work experience placements to provide candidates with minimal work experience the opportunity to gain this on the job.  Work placements that recently have occurred include a candidate from ETC and students from Newmans College and Charles Sturt University.

Resume Drafting Service

Did you know that resumes can be created by Shell at the Front Desk if candidates request this service? All they need to do is provide us with all their relevant details and we can develop a resume on their behalf. Note there is a charge for this service.

MBC in the Community

We are currently working on some changes to our website to increase traffic and further promote MBC. Short infomercials have been created for use at local events and on our social pages to increase awareness of MBC and its services. The use of other recruitment job boards is currently being investigated with the aim of getting our job postings to reach a wider audience of job seekers.

Marketing & Advertising

We are exploring new initiatives in the marketing space with use of email marketing to prospects and clients. The internal staff newsletter has also been introduced to increase engagement and community for MBC staff. Radio advertising on FM93.5 Radio 531 (Hastings – Macleay – Nambucca) has been introduced for our White Collar Recruitment and Labour Hire departments.

Should you wish to submit suggestions or feedback you can do so through the MS Teams ‘Innovate to Elevate’ chat or email Deborah Burley.
